What kinds of music are included in your collection?

DJ SM owns an enormous library of music in all genre formats and top-hits from Americas, Europe, and Africa. I update our collection constantly, ensuring that I'm able to provide the songs that our clients and their guests are currently enjoying. Furthermore, we  work closely with our clients in selecting the music for their event, and will gladly acquire any commercially available song that we don’t already own, at no additional cost. Because of this, we can virtually guarantee that we will be able to accommodate any request. NOTE: We play clean versions only.

How do you dress for an event?

Depending on the occasion, we dress for your event. DJ SM's’ typical “uniform” is a formal dark business suit with appropriate accessories. If a tuxedo, casual, or  traditional attire would be more appropriate for your event, simply let us know your preference.

What kind of DJ equipment do you use?

We use the highest quality professional-grade equipment available: Serato, VDJ, Pioneer controllers, RANE mixers, QSC/JBL speakers & subwoofers (5500watts combined) and EV/Shure microphones. Wireless microphones are always provided.

Are you insured?

Maestro Beats carries a full liability insurance policy for DJ SM performance set. We would be happy to provide you or your venue with a copy of our insurance policy upon request.

When do you arrive to set up for an event?

DJ SM always arrive on-site at least two hours prior to the contracted start time of the event, and earlier as necessitated by the setup requirements of the site.

Will you present a contract at our initial meeting?

Yes. DJ SM will come prepared with a contract guaranteeing his presence at your event, and an accurate and inclusive price. We feel that providing you with a contract is respectful of your time and presents the opportunity for you to review its terms with the performer and ask questions if necessary. It also gives you, in writing, the terms of Maestro Beats Entertainment’s offer, something that may not be guaranteed with other companies’ verbal promises.

However, please know that you would never be asked or expected to sign your contract on the spot; we are happy for you to take it home for consideration. Contracts are valid for ten (10) days following your meeting, and we will hold your date for you on the DJ’s schedule during that time. Out of fairness to others who may be waiting on the DJ’s availability, we do ask you to notify us of your decision within that 10-day window. If you decide you are not ready to move forward with booking your DJ at that time, we would need to release that DJ’s availability for another event organizer.

A 40% retainer is due with your signed contract within two weeks of your initial meeting with your DJ. The 60%balance is collected on your event. Maestro Beats accepts cash, personal checks, and certified checks or money orders. We also accept Paypay via DJs(at)MaestroBeats.com.

What do you require from my event site to hook your setup?

We require at least one 6-foot banquet table, with linens, and adequate power (120-volt, 15-amp circuit on a grounded outlet) within 35 feet of where the DJ will be set up.

Do you offer event lighting for wedding?

Yes we do, and we do not if on larger uplift scale. I believe that quality event lighting is a complex, labor-intensive service that is best left to expert designers in that field. Eventhough I have a professional background  in event lighting design — it’s a lot more nuanced than simply “plugging in a bunch of lights”. I'd rather make sure you have great lighting and great music, so focusing solely on providing excellent music is an easy choice for me. If you are interested in professional event lighting, I'd be happy to refer you to outstanding lighting partners who can help you create the visual ambiance you desire.

Do you offer live ceremony musicians?

Again, we believe in focusing on the service that I can personally provide. Some music or DJ agencies will “up-sell” live musicians, serving as a “middle man” and taking a cut of the proceeds, but I’d prefer to refer you directly to the musicians themselves.

Can we speak with your previous clients?

DJ SM will gladly provide you with references upon request, who are more than happy to discuss the quality of his performance and customer service. You will not be asked to “cold call” people to check our references; we will be sure to let them know to expect your call. we want you to feel completely comfortable in researching our services.

How far do you travel?

I go far places if the offer is great and you fly me over. I currently based in New York and I've done events as far as Florida, Texas, Washington DC, Ohio, Detroit, Maryland, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Connecticut,  Delaware, New Jersey. NOTE: Additional fee applies for road trip more than 65 miles from  New York city.

Do you have a backup and can you provide a replacement if you get sick or have an accident on the event date?

Yes I always carry backup equipment. I have never missed an event due to illness or any other reasons. However, I do understand that accidents do happen. I have MaestroBeats partner DJs network and skilled professionals DJs & MCs for fill-ins . In a very unlikely event that I can't make it to your event, a competent replacement will be available.

Do you have Invoices and Receipts?

Yes. Available upon request.

How much do you charge?

Depending on the event magnitude and setup requirement, DJ SM's base reasonably rates range from $575 - $1975. We base our pricing on an objective structure that only factors in the month and day of the event, which ensures consistency and fairness to all of our clients. We are not in the practice of subjectively pricing events based on our estimation of your budget or popularity — for example, we don’t price events higher if clients is using an expensive venue or if they are famous or celebrities.

What is included in the DJ cost of my event?

Performance time, setup time, breakdown time, tolls, travel up to 75 miles from NYC, any applicable taxes, and all equipment (including additional sound systems, wireless microphones and subwoofer) for weddings or party up to 250 guests. For guest over 250, a custom quote may be necessary. Our flat-rate pricing is refreshingly easy to understand — there are no hidden charges, and all fees are clearly stated in your contract.

How will I know who my DJ will be?

You will be dealing with me, DJ SM (Seyi), director at MaestroBeats Entertainment. All messages via website, social media, emails, and phone calls come to me directly.

How do you mix the music for various event?

Mixing is a pretty basic skill for professional disc jockey, but how a DJ does it says a lot about his or her style. I mix music with the purpose of creating seamless transitions between songs/genres  and maintaining the energy and momentum on the dance floor. Mixing for me is something I do on the spot, based on the tempo and “feel” of the songs and the reaction of the crowd. I don’t necessarily treat your wedding like a nightclub gig (because of demography) and I don’t use your wedding to test out remixes that no one recognizes. I also don’t use any cheesy, pre-fabricated dj mixes. I always use the original radio versions and clean version of each song unless there’s a really good reason not to.

How would you define your “style” or approach to providing DJ entertainment?

Depending on the occasion, our presentation is polished and understated, marked by artistic mixing and a professional “no-cheese” approach to announcements and microphone work. We are team of professionals and know how to motivate the guests if we think it's necessary - not to show off.  Some  DJs think that it is their job to put on a show and be the center of attention at the wedding reception. I believe firmly that your wedding is your show, and we have no interest in taking the spotlight from you or your MC, if you have one. We will not display our company banner, except at organizers' request. We do things that pleasing and make your comfortable.
